5th Annual Great NCPH Canadian Gathering!

Hello there fellow Canadian Public Historians!

Are you getting all ready for your trip to this year's NCPH annual meeting being held in Gate City of the South? Are you slightly concerned that you may not be able to understand that sultry southern accent? Are you worried that you'll be asked uncomfortable questions about Justin's beard? Are you flustered by the idea that if you invite an American to visit you back home in the Great White North, that they are unlikely to remove their shoes when they come into the house? The horror!!

                                                         Ack! My clean floors!!

Well, my Canadian friend, I'm happy to inform you that there's a spot for you in The ALT to feel some Canuck comfort because the annual Great NCPH Canadian Gathering is once again taking place (this is the 5th year in a row...we've totally set up a longstanding tradition that will last forever)!

Yes, this is an opportunity for you to meet up with some fellow Canadian Public Historians, discuss our impressions of the annual meeting so far, build up your network and discuss the fact that our fantastic American hosts apparently don't care that their shoes are tracking dirt across our sparkling clean floors.

Now that you're starting to worry that there is a fundamental cultural divide between Canadians and Americans based on the wearing of outdoor shoes indoors, you're obviously asking: where will I ever find a safe shelter that will allow me to hangout with like-minded people who know that footwear should be thrown into a big pile at the door and quench my parched throat? Happy you asked!

Friday March 20th at 8.00pm (after the plenary session)

So come and join us (and please let me know if you're interested at jp5morin [at] gmail.com). Please note that all non-Canucks are, of course, welcome and invited to come and join in. Everyone needs more Canadians in their lives (but be warned that we will likely end up arguing about whether Meghan and Harry are ruining Canada or if we should just skip the whole line of succession and declare them King and Queen of Canada because they're just so cool!).

See you all there, eh!
